Jan Kościuszko - history and tradition

M

ultiple Polish and European champion in mountain racing and rallying. Set designer, columnist, philanthropist, organiser and creator of Europe's largest "Christmas Eve for People in Need" held annually in Kraków's Market Square.

Founder of the legendary "Chłopskie Jadło" restaurants, which have been honoured with most industry awards and distinctions. In 1998, it was the only restaurant to be awarded the "Teraz Polska" mark, with the title of "Company of the Year in 2002".

In 1995-2006, Chłopskie Jadło took part in the presentation of Polish cuisine for the project of Poland's accession to the European Union, and provided culinary services for the most spectacular cultural and special events, including "Christmas Eve at the Presidential Palace", "Reception at the Wieliczka Salt Mine with the participation of the President of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski", "Pro Publico Bono Competition organised by Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek" or servicing the ceremonial meeting organised by Krzysztof Penderecki with the Grand Orchestra of the Munich Philharmonic in Kraków (400 people).

The restaurant's catering also served the "Festival of Stars" held three times at the Amber Hotel in Międzyzdroje and the Nigel Kennedy concert in London.

Guests at Mr Jan Kościuszko's restaurant included: Krzysztof and Elżbieta Pendereccy, Zbigniew Brzeziński, Federico Fellini, Morgan Freeman, Andrzej Wajda, Daniel Olbrychski, Bogusław Linda, Andrzej Grabowski, Kora, Krzysztof Zanussi, Anna Dymna and many equally distinguished.

Most prominent politicians, including President Aleksander Kwaśniewski and his wife Jolanta, have also visited Chłopskie Jadło restaurant.

Jan Kościuszko was also actively involved in hosting a culinary programme for TVP 1, for a few years leading the "Kawa czy Herbata" programme presenting Polish cuisine and preparing the scenery and culinary setting for theatre plays.

After selling the company "Chłopskie Jadło", Kościuszko launched and listed the company "Polskie Jadło", and after withdrawing from the stock exchange, he founded the company "Grupa Kościuszko M2B" "Kościuszko Products" together with his son.

The company produces and supplies products of very high quality for partners such as Ikea, Lotos, BP, Amic, Farutex, Wawel, Banfood, Bacówka and many others.

Jan Kościuszko has now decided to "enclose all his culinary experience in cans", which has made it possible to produce the highest quality "Premium" system ready meals without even a trace of chemical components, and the shelf life of these products is due solely to thermal processes. Once again, the brand has proven that Polish cuisine is and has been a complementary part of culture.

Mainly thanks to drawing on Poland's rich culinary tradition, attention to detail and the introduction of a kind of "theatrical" form of presentation and service for guests, all this combined with ethnographic correctness of the interiors has created this success and the philosophy of a company with traditions.
